Tag of the Week:
The Basics
I realize this week's tag isn't going to attract many web designers, but it seems like a logical
place to start. Please forgive me, and I'll have something more interesting next week.
So you want to make a webpage, huh? Well, it's pretty simple. The way I see it, you've got two
options.
Option #1: Go out and find yourself a fancy-dandy HTML editor like MS Frontpage or Netscape
Composer. Of course, I immmediately reject this option because these editors are only for the
sissies who don't have the time, patience, or know-how to learn the code. Also, these editors
are extremely limited to what you can do. If there's a problem with your layout, you'll
never be able to fix it since you won't know how the code fits together. This option is only
for underachievers who don't care what their finished product looks like. Read on if you're a
real man (or woman).
Option #2: Learn the code. Ten minutes to learn, a lifetime to master. Sounds familiar, huh?
If you know how HTML code fits together, you'll be able to do much greater tasks. You have
an actual connection to your work, which makes it your baby, not a creation wizard's.
If you've selected Option #2, you can read on. If you've selected Option #1, you're screwed.
Try resorting to the included help file of your program. Ha ha ha ha ha!
